According to its statute, the IOMEH activities cover: research in the field of occupational and environmental medicine and hygiene, expertise and training in the occupational medicine and environmental health impact assessment, diagnosis and treatment of occupational and environmental diseases, as well as public health research and expertise, especially development and implementation of health promotion and prevention of diseases. IOMEH employs world class specialists with major scientific achievements. Within its structure Institute consists of the Hospital with its Department of Occupational Diseases and Acute Poisoning Center, research departments, number of specific laboratories and Dept. of Environmental Health and Epidemiology and other administrative units. Polish Society of Environmental Medicine, Polish Society of Occupational Medicine – Silesian department and Occupational Hygienists’ Association are located in the Institute.

Environmental Medicine

"Environmental Medicine" is an official Journal of the Polish Society of Environmental Medicine. It is published twice a year by the PSEM and the Institute of Occupational Medicine and Environmental Health. The Journal is indexed in Index Copernicus (IC 2005=3.82).
